YEARNING TO FIND- WHERE JUSTICE IS?
Dee Freeman copyright 2002

Dr. King asked “where is justice when deep prejudices and
Discriminations exist in hidden, subtle, and covert disguises”?
I contend, it can be found only, where the majority is ready to
Concede to their faults and begin a system of compromises

Where is justice?
When the constitution is misinterpreted and
Equality is not given to all?
Where is it, when we, as a people, have no representation in
Liberty Mall or Constitution Hall?
Where is justice?
When after hundreds of years, it is still dispensed differently
Failing to hear the weak and desperate call?
Why can’t it just live up to those long ago promises,
Giving freedom and equality to all?

Where is Justice?
If still around, I don’t think justice is totally blind,
For it is often misrepresented and turned against us…
In fact, a lot of the time.
Where is Justice?
As it’s used to incarcerate a number of people
Harshly for substance abuse,
When other people are just slapped on the hand
For a more potent drug use?

Where is justice?
When, a mere 50 years ago, our people were strung up
And hung up by the neck until dead,
Yet, a segment of the government gets into an uproar
Over only words that one of us has openly said?
Where is Justice?
Does it fail to see how it is being manipulated to work against its own,
When upon our backs this nation was built, and we can’t call it home?

Where is justice?
When a vicious attack against a man, has crippled and maimed
And by this same brutality, the life of another has been claimed?
Where is Justice?
When so often life is snuffed from an innocent
And defenseless man?
I believe it is again time we rise up as a strong voice
To take a united stand.

Where is justice?
When the wealthy and secure have Great ranges of freedom
And the poor have a hell on earth?
I, like MLK, wish to speak out for justice for all
A precious portion of our right from the beginning… our birth
Where is justice?
I long to see the day when our system of justice will become
Governed by leaders with one unified mind;
To dispense justice equally, from the same
Point of reference to the entire world and all mankind

Deep within my heart, I know this country
Is in desperate need of a healing.
Justice, in the right places can be the doctor, reducing
This pain which keeps our nation reeling

“the moral crime beginning 1619 in Jamestown, Va. has yet to end!”
Justice is on the rise…our future looks bright!
We shall overcome!
For justice must be just around the bend
