STILL ME
Dee Freeman copyright 2002

Me! I’m still that little kinky haired girl
The one who knew nothing about the world
The one who thought her Negroid features
Were ugly and made her appear like some
Scary creature—roaming the dark in only dreams.

Me! I’m still that little caramel pixie
Born in the south, near the heart of Dixie
The one who never liked the size of her lips
The one who pinned her nose with close pin clips
Trying to make it smaller, or so it would seem.

Me! I’m still that little solemn, slow talking child
The one who kept all feelings inside or low and mild
The one who cried silently, thinking no one else cared
The one who never spoke out, because she was
Way too scared—of what the world would say to
Dampen her starry, yet shielded beam.

Me! The brand new me!! Now the me I see; the possessor of
Bold yet lovely features—the kind many yearn for, and
The caramel colored hue many others burn for.

Me! Now the me I see; have the desired sized
Plump luscious lips—without having to buy them.
The soft, smooth supple type, and someone’s always wanting
To try them.

Me! Now the me I see; speaks out loudly,
No longer intimidated, but speaking boldly what’s
On my mind. Now, knowing that my ancestor is the
Mother of all mankind.

Still Me! The woman I am now, pleases the shadowy
Pixie of the past and smiles for Blessed I am
As, now the me I see; truly cares for me,
This older version of the little kinky haired, caramel colored,
Slow talking, mild mannered pixie; directly from Dixie.
